Coming from a long line of inquisitive gnomes, Cobwash Nimbleleaf III grew up listening to his grandfather’s tales of safaris in Garund, exploring ruins in the wilds of Avistan, and making the trek across the spine of the world to the Dragon Kingdoms. His father was a Pathfinder, who disappeared while searching for an Azlanti artifact, known only as The Chalice. His mother was a scholar, studying the ancient civilizations of the Azlanti and Thassilonia. After his father disappeared, his mother, Maera Nimbleleaf, encouraged Wash to pursue his studies, instead of the dangerous occupation of explorer.
As a gifted student, and orator, Wash spent his formative years at the academy excelling in his classes by day, and telling wild stories at the inns and taverns at night. Shortly after graduating near the the top if his class, he reenrolled into a post-graduate program, specializing in ancient Thassilonian studies. During this time he began to conduct field research, much to the dismay of his mother. He fell in love with exploring, as it called to his spirit. Once he graduated again, he was offered the position of assistant professor of Thassilonian studies at the Magnimar Academy. He quickly accepted. For his final thesis, he traveled to Sandpoint to look into rumors of newly discovered Thassilonian sites nearby.
